Austrias sweet wines are rare, characterised by their natural residual sugar sweetness, highly concentrated acidity, and often with the incomparable aromas and flavours of botrytis cinerea (Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese). Burgenland with its extraordinary microclimate around Lake Neusiedl (Neusiedlersee) almost seems as if it was selected especially for the creation of sweet wines<\/strong>, particularly in the Seewinkel area around Apetlon, Illmitz and Podersdorf.<\/div>

The white, fruity sweet NEUSIEDLERSEE DAC <\/strong>(Sp\u00e4tlese<\/strong> or<\/em> Auslese<\/strong>) is vinified from fully ripened grapes and has to meet special requirements according to the Austrian wine law. Its sweetness has to be of natural origin.<\/p>\n

The smaller designation of origin \u201eSeewinkel<\/strong>\u201c for fruity sweet NEUSIEDLERSEE DAC is allowed, if the grapes come from the municipalities Apetlon, Illmitz and\/or Podersdorf.<\/p><\/div>
